The “Akwaba” collection which means “welcome” in Côte d'Ivoire is the first collection designed by Wibes. It’s a high-end line of vegan canvas sneakers with a touch of ivoirian wax fabric. It is therefore a vegan product which means without any material coming from animals. As a true tribute to his country, our designer has selected iconic and timeless wax prints in order to highlight local and artisanal craftsmanship.

Vegan and sustainable

The Akwaba range is our collection of low canvas sneakers with original colors and vegan which means without leather or animal matter. Made for travel and adventure, these unique sneakers will accompany you in all circumstances to the four corners of the globe. These pairs with the warm colors of the wax prints which dress them are the reflection of our desire to sublimate this African fabric, as well as the strong importance which we attach to our origins, i.e. to Africa and the Côte d’Ivoire.

The wax fabric, composed of 100% cotton, is designed and entirely manufactured in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, in the last wax factory of the country.

A step for the Planet

They are also our most sustainable sneaker models of the collection. Designed between Paris and Abidjan, these pairs of sneakers are the most colorful and representative of our African DNA.

Innovative fabrics

At Wibes, we believe in ethical and sustainable fashion, which is why the Akwaba line has three different eco-friendly fabrics:

A GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton canvas
A 100% recycled fabric made of polyester from PET bottles and cotton from recycled clothes, certified GRS (Global Recycled Standard)
A 100% recycled fabric made from polyester fibers from plastics collected in the Mediterranean Sea (Oekotex® Standard 100)

In addition to being eco-friendly, these three pairs of Akwaba sneakers have been fully thought out and designed for comfort and adaptability, thanks to:

A 40% recycled rubber outsole
A removable insole made of breathable textile
A padded textile lining with anti-perspirant and anti-bacterial properties.

The little extra? The whole family can have matching shoes. All our Akwaba models are unisex and available in all sizes, from 30 to 46.

To be suitable for the whole family and thought for travel and adventure, we have designed this Akwaba collection easy to maintain and clean. Indeed, the fabrics used are easy to clean as well as the wax which is a 100% cotton and water repellent fabric. All you need is a little water and liquid soap, or washing powder, to give them a new lease on life. It is also possible to be surprised by a shower or heavy rain. Don’t panic, just remove the removable insole and let them air dry.
